Job Title: Psychologist I

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychologist I to join our team at the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. As a Psychologist I, you will provide psychological services to youth involved with the department, including evaluation and consultation services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide evaluation services, including clinical interviews with youth and family members, record reviews, and consultations with department staff and other agencies.
  • Administer and interpret psychological tests and measures, and prepare reports and provide expert testimony in Family Court as required.
  • Conduct waiver evaluations, which must be conducted by doctoral-level, licensed psychologists.
  • Participate in treatment planning and interagency staffing, and consult in cases of youth with special needs.
  • Provide consultation to department staff regarding youth involved with the department.

Requirements:

  • A doctorate in applied psychology from an accredited college or university and experience in applied psychology.
  • Thorough knowledge of current psychological theory and practice, psychological evaluation and assessment techniques, and some knowledge of forensic psychological issues in Family Court.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports.
  • The ability to work and communicate effectively with youth, families, staff, and other entities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in applied psychology from an APA-approved program in psychology and possession of a current license to practice psychology in the State of South Carolina or license eligibility within two years.
