Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Applied Science Manager to lead our team of applied and research scientists, and language engineers, data linguists responsible for building foundation models.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and manage a team of experts in natural language processing, machine learning, and related fields.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that Amazon's AI models are aligned with human preferences and values.
  3. Identify and prioritize research opportunities that have the potential to significantly impact our AI systems and drive business growth.
  4. Mentor and guide team members to achieve their career goals and objectives, and contribute to a culture of innovation and excellence.
  5. Communicate research findings and progress to senior leadership and stakeholders, and provide strategic recommendations to inform business decisions.
Requirements
  • Masters in Computer Science, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in natural language processing, machine learning, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing science teams handling personalization and affinity mining.
  • Expert knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques, and familiarity with large-scale data processing and storage systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications

PHD and experience with building applications using Large language models.
