A Day in the Life
In this exciting role as a Senior Software Architect, you will apply technical expertise towards developing world-class solutions using software engineering tools to solve highly complex technical problems related to surgical navigation, robotics, and ablation products.
As an experienced engineer, you will prepare plans for your own work, guide and mentor other engineers, participate in technical reviews, select the most promising concepts, implement advances in current state-of-the-art software technology, and identify opportunities for productivity and quality improvement.
As a technical software leader, you will work closely with software development teams and cross-functional teams in an Agile environment (Scrum). You will ensure tests pass relative to design specifications, prepare formal documentation, and educate stakeholders regarding solutions. You will provide solutions that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity and work is performed with minimal direction to determine technical objectives of assignments.
In this role you will:
- Design, develop, test, and document complex software components, and applications related to surgical navigation, robotics, and ablation products using C++.
- Lead requirements gathering, estimating, and planning efforts.
- Interface with mechanical, electrical, systems, and test engineers as well as quality assurance and regulatory compliance teams.
- Troubleshoot, debug, maintain, and support existing products.
- Represent the company at industry trade shows and customer sites.
- Participate and often recommend on-going professional development activities.
- Identify and implement process improvements often of a complex nature.
- Effectively contribute to development teams.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in a technically related field required.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.

Nice to Have
- Expert programming skills in C++ Experience with other programming languages, for example Python, Go, or Java.
- Expert knowledge in designing, developing, testing, and documenting software infrastructure systems and system components.
- Experience in large-scale software design including OOA/OOD and design patterns.
- Assisting with project timeline estimation and planning efforts.
- Experience using Git-based source control systems.
- Strong knowledge of modern software design, development, debug, and test practices.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Leadership and mentorship capabilities.
- Ability to work in an Agile team environment.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$140, $211,200.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
