Job Summary

The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy seeks a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director of Business Operations to lead the fiscal functioning of the Academy. This individual will be responsible for directing the business operations, providing strategic financial input, and enhancing policies and procedures to improve the overall operation and financial condition of the Academy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Academy's business operations, including accounting, budget development, payroll, procurement, and state-mandated financial reporting and compliance.
  • Advise the President and the Board of Trustees on financial and business issues and needs.
  • Assume the position of treasurer of the IMSA Board of Trustees.
  • Lead the preparation of the Academy's annual external budget request and state reporting.
  • Lead annual review and reallocation of appropriation to projects that address the Academy's priority outcomes and other under-funded needs.
  • Provide and interpret reports of business operations, including financial statements and operating data.
  • Ensure the financial integrity and compliance of the Academy's business and financial operations with statutory requirements.
  • Lead the Academy's annual financial and compliance audit.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy's strategic direction.
Qualifications
  • Masters degree in business administration, school business management, or comparable training.
  • Eight years of relevant experience in an educational, governmental, private sector, or other not-for-profit institution.
  • Certified CPA.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of individuals and diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently, resolve issues, seek help when needed, and work on concurrent projects.
  • Proficient with computerized accounting software.
  • Experienced user of common computer hardware and office productivity software.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This role generally requires mobility, written and verbal communication, hearing and visual capabilities, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, loading, unloading and moving materials/boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.

Compensation

This position is a full-time, exempt, 12-month, employment-at-will position. Starting salary no less than $114,605 and regionally commensurate with training and experience in like institutions. The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy offers an excellent comprehensive benefits package including health and retirement benefits.
