Travel Nurse RN Preoperative

Tact Staff is seeking a skilled Preoperative Travel Nurse RN to join our team in Gonzales, Texas.
Job Summary:We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Preoperative Travel Nurse RN to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment. As a Preoperative Travel Nurse RN, you will be responsible for participating in setting standards for patient care and nursing practice in the surgery department, taking OR call to ensure coverage at all times, and functioning as a surgical nurse for various surgical procedures.
Responsibilities:- Participate in setting standards for patient care and nursing practice in the surgery department according to AORN and regulatory guidelines.
- Take OR call to ensure coverage at all times.
- Function as a surgical nurse for various surgical procedures.
- Document completely and legibly the surgical record according to AORN standards.
- Ensure all necessary logs, information, and documentation are current, accurate, and preserved according to current standards.
- Recover patients as needed.
- Maintain proficiency in proper aseptic technique in the operating room and autoclave instruments as necessary.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order and demonstrate ability to recognize improperly functioning equipment.
- Provide care appropriate for neonate and pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Ensure supplies and equipment are inventoried, ordered, and stocked.
- Set up PACU, maintaining all necessary supplies, stock drugs, and complete daily check of all emergency equipment.
- Ensure PACU is equipped and stocked to receive patients at all times.
- Pre-op preparation of patients per physician's orders.
- Ensure all permits and other paperwork are completed.
- Initiate IV line and assure pre-op teaching and anesthesia assessment done. Complete all pre-op preparation of patient.
- Receive patient from OR nurse post-op and initiate recovery per accepted PACU standards of care.
- When prescribed recovery period completed, with patient stable and responsive, PACU nurse will effect transport either personally or by designation giving comprehensive report to receiving nurse. If patient is able to be discharged home post-op, PACU nurse will assist in dressing, reinforce discharge instructions, and accompany patient personally or delegate staff to assist patient to transportation.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Nursing Administrator.
- Assess and interpret data on the neonate and pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients' status to identify patients' requirements relative to their age-specific needs and provide care needed as stipulated in departmental policy.
Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
