Job Title: Senior SCADA Engineer

At Sargent & Lundy, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior SCADA Engineer to join our Electric Grid Infrastructure Services business unit. As a Senior SCADA Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, configuring, and implementing substation SCADA and communication systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop SCADA systems to address operational requirements and emerging trends in the electric grid industry.
  • Configure and implement communication block diagrams, panel layout/bill of material drawings, SCADA AC & DC schematics, fiber detail drawings, and network drawings.
  • Provide reviews and design input of P&C drawings for SCADA system requirements.
  • Develop points lists for data transferred between RTUs, IEDs, and master station connections.
  • Configure and develop Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and programmable automation controllers (PACs).
  • Program Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications and coordinate with relay settings engineers to develop/review communication port settings for protection relays, meters, and other IEDs.
  • Develop network device configurations for switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Perform troubleshooting of SCADA system network and communication systems remotely and onsite.
  • Develop SCADA system and network documentation for projects.
  • Develop automation tools to improve project efficiency.
  • Stage, configure, and test integrated systems designs for interoperability and performance.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications, or Computer Systems Engineering.
  • 4 years of experience in design, configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting of substation SCADA and communication systems.
  • Experience with SEL, Novatech, and GE RTUs and software.
  • Basic understanding of LAN/WAN devices and topology.
  • Knowledge of DNP, Modbus, SEL, IEC MMS/Goose protocols – serial and IP based.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License.
  • Master of Science degree in Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications, or Computer Systems Engineering.
  • Experience with communication troubleshooting software/hardware.
  • Protective relay settings experience.
  • Radio communications experience.
  • Network design credentials, applied knowledge of IP/MPLS.
  • Well-versed in use of MS Project and Visio.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Familiar with NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards and Cyber-Security.
  • CISSP certification.
