Overview
As a Clinical Nutrition Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and executing tailored nutrition therapy plans while assessing outcomes for assigned patients. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive nutritional care. Your role will embody the core values and mission of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare.
Qualifications
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution is required prior to the specified cutoff date.
Effective Transition:
Starting from the specified date, new hires must possess a Master's Degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field.
Completion of the necessary dietetics coursework and supervised practice through an accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics and Dietetic Internship, or a Coordinated Program in Dietetics recognized by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience as a registered dietitian is required for dialysis roles.
Must hold the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and be licensed as a Dietitian/Nutritionist in the state of practice.

- In-depth understanding of the Nutrition Care Process and the ability to implement all its stages.
- Extensive knowledge of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy.
- Strong critical thinking skills to synthesize information and observations.
- Proficient decision-making, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interactions with patients, healthcare staff, and physicians.
- Capability to work independently within designated patient care units.
- Skills in counseling and educating patients and families.
- Familiarity with nutrient analysis and software applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver the Nutrition Care Process, formulating and executing medical nutrition therapy plans.
- Maintain documentation in line with established policies and clinical guidelines.
- Conduct nutrition assessments and identify nutrition-related diagnoses.
- Analyze trends in patient data to evaluate nutritional status and adjust therapy as needed.
- Collaborate with foodservice teams to ensure adherence to nutrition care plans.
- Act as a vital member of the clinical interdisciplinary team, providing culturally sensitive nutrition counseling and education.
- Document patient understanding and compliance with nutrition recommendations.
- Engage in professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
The role may involve various physical activities, including climbing, pushing, standing, and walking. The position requires the ability to exert light physical effort and maintain visual acuity for tasks such as data analysis and extensive reading.
The work environment is typically free from adverse conditions, aligning with standard office settings.
