Job Summary

This position is a critical member of the Atrium Health Radiology team, responsible for prioritizing and coordinating ultrasound exams with nursing units, radiologists, and referring physicians. The successful candidate will perform ultrasound exams in accordance with departmental protocols and standards, providing exceptional patient care and operating ultrasound and associated equipment with proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine patient requests and verify orders to ensure accurate and timely exam completion
  • Assist radiologists in the performance of invasive procedures, demonstrating a high level of technical skill and attention to detail
  • Evaluate the technical quality of exams and develop innovative techniques to optimize efficiency and productivity in the department
  • Support and contribute to the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy by understanding the importance of delivering exceptional care to each patient
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the Assistant Director, Lead Sonographer, and/or Engineer to ensure prompt resolution and minimize downtime
  • Operate the Radiology computer system to enter and charge exams and supplies, maintaining accurate records and ensuring seamless workflow
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to departmental standards and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment
  • Adhere to departmental rules and regulations, demonstrating a commitment to professionalism and excellence in all aspects of the job

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in diagnostic medical sonography, with certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (S) required. A graduate of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program is preferred, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment is essential. Interpersonal skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care are also essential for success in this role.
