We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician II to join our team at Christus Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technician II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of laboratory results, working closely with our medical team to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform complex clinical testing in assigned sections, including general laboratory, Blood Bank, and Microbiology, with a focus on quality control, performance improvement, and preventative maintenance.
- Recognize abnormal critical values and follow proper guidelines for notifying medical team members of results.
- Perform clerical, general, and phlebotomy duties related to daily operations in the laboratory, including specimen collection, handling, and processing.
- Provide and dispense blood products as requested by medical staff, adhering to established protocols for safety, infection control, and security.
- Utilize LIS and HIS computer systems to perform, charge, and report laboratory results, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist in training new associates and students in laboratory practices, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Associate degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or equivalent laboratory training and experience.
- Successful completion of an official U.S. military medical laboratory procedures training course or equivalent laboratory training and experience.
- At least six months of approved clinical laboratory experience, including a clinical rotation through Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, and Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids.
- MLT certification from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS, with maintenance and keeping current.
