JOB SUMMARY
- Accountable for executing the daily activity schedule established by the Activity Director. Expected to uphold and adhere to the mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Activity Program, along with compliance with state and federal regulations. Aim to ensure the highest quality of life for each resident, considering their psychosocial, medical, and activity preferences.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the healthcare sector, including volunteer work or personal experience with individuals with disabilities.
- Current understanding of Federal and State activity regulations and the ability to interpret them.
- Proficient in reading and writing English.
- Bi-lingual abilities may be preferred based on specific facility needs.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Punctuality and efficiency in time management are essential, particularly regarding adherence to the activity schedule.
- Exhibit qualities such as empathy, compassion, enthusiasm, and a positive demeanor to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff.
- Ability to relate to and work with individuals who are ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally distressed.
- Effective communication skills with community members, healthcare professionals, and other organizations.
- Ability to manage personal and staff emotional needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Capable of pushing, pulling, or carrying up to 50 pounds.
- May need to lift equipment and supplies, and occasionally rearrange furniture.
- Must be able to move around the facility throughout the workday.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating flexibility, integrity, and effective collaboration with residents, families, and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide constructive feedback to the Activity Director to assess the achievement of facility and program objectives through teamwork.
- Lead a therapeutic, resident-centered activity program that consistently aims to enhance each resident's quality of life while aligning with the Activity Mission and Philosophy.
- Adhere to all Activity Policies and Procedures, as well as Federal and State regulations.
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of each resident's background, culture, life history, and medical needs to create tailored activity plans.
- Ensure daily activities reflect the preferences and rights of the residents.
- Understand and accommodate the communication needs of residents, including language services and communication aids.
- As directed by the Activity Director, conduct and complete initial and ongoing assessments related to social, medical, cognitive, and spiritual needs.
- Document and fulfill all required paperwork as per the Activity Director's guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records, including Resident Daily Participation, Progress Notes, and Activity Planning sheets to support resident engagement.
- Assist in updating activity boards with a creative and organized monthly theme.
- Encourage community involvement by inviting local participants to events and programs.
- Support resident outings, which may include trips to shopping centers, movies, and community events, including transportation as needed.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure continuity of care and adherence to activity schedules.
- Maintain the structure of the activity schedule and ensure timely execution of all activities, requiring permission from the Activity Director for any cancellations.
- Ensure all equipment and supplies are kept in good condition and report any needs for materials or repairs to the Activity Director promptly.
- Update calendars and boards on a daily basis.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
