Job Title: Coordinator of Veterinary Technology

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Coordinator of Veterinary Technology to join our team at the Louisiana Department of State Civil Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Veterinary Technology Department, ensuring the smooth operation of the program, and providing support to students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the IACUC committee and ensure compliance with USDA regulations
  • Teach 5-6 hours of VTEC classes to reduce the class load of the Department Head
  • Assist in RVT duties as described in a separate posting
  • Maintain the national accreditation of the degree through the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
  • Compile data and draft annual departmental assessments submitted to the university
  • Represent the University in all activities and functions as determined by the President, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean or Department Chair
Requirements:
  • Shall be qualified to teach in the field of study
  • Shall be effective in teaching the assigned subject material
  • Shall meet the required standards defined by the University
  • Shall be proficient in curriculum development, instruction, evaluation, and academic counseling
  • Shall hold an Associate degree or Bachelor's degree (preferred) in Veterinary Technology and be a licensed Registered Veterinary Technician/Technologist in Louisiana
