Job Title: Senior GIS Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior GIS Analyst to join our team at the Martin County Sheriff's Office. As a key member of our GIS team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects that support our law enforcement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform complex data analysis using ArcGIS and related extensions/add-ons, relational databases, and other computer software.
  • Maintain layers for Next Generation 911 data compliance.
  • Design and implement GIS and relational databases in various formats, including connection strings and ODBC connections.
  • Design and implement custom applications both for the desktop and the internet.
  • Conduct data analysis and preparation of documents, data reports, and maps.
  • Ensure that accurate and complete metadata is developed for all data sets and that metadata is distributed with data when requested by outside agencies.
  • Serve as a working project manager for projects and programs.
  • Participate in agency audit as needed.
  • Scope and review the technical work of consultants, contracting agencies, and other organizations as appropriate.
  • Assist with scoping GIS projects.
  • Participate in developing grant proposals which include a GIS or data component.
  • Provide recommendations for project personnel, hardware, software, data, budget, and scheduling.
  • Communicate complex technical issues both verbally and in writing to non-technical GIS users.
  • Provide technical expertise to appointed agency staff, other agencies, and the public.
  • Respond to public inquiries with data and information.
  • Coordinate with other staff to develop materials needed for public meetings, workgroups, council meetings, and other meetings as needed.
  • Prepare and conduct presentations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or related field.
  • Two years of experience with Geographic Information Systems while using ArcGIS related desktop software tools and ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Server online mapping tools.
  • Proficient with database programming languages such as SQL and Python and front-end design languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and various mapping languages.
