Job Summary:

The Systems Integration Section Chief is responsible for overseeing the design, construction, maintenance, and day-to-day operation of a hardware-in-the-loop integration testing laboratory. The laboratory contains aircraft avionics, electrical systems, aircraft actuation hardware, real-time simulation, test electrical systems, and associated components. The Section Chief is responsible for program management tasks in the lab environment, including schedule development, budget management, and integration with interfacing systems engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead a team to design, build, and maintain advanced integration test facilities for the development of integrated complex aircraft systems.

2. Collaborate with program management and aircraft engineering teams to support lab build and testing schedules.

3. Develop and manage engineering integration program/project schedules and certification activities.

4. Interface with various organizations to ensure laboratory availability and project completion according to program requirements and schedule.

5. Develop and maintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners.

6. Develop resource load plans and execute hiring to maintain and grow the team to accomplish short and long-term goals.

7. Plan and manage multi-year budgets, planning, and purchasing to maintain and upgrade the lab to support new programs and technologies.

8. Interface with suppliers as needed to support projects.

9. Review engineering documents, including drawings, test plans, and test reports.

10. Provide engineering process leadership, especially in the areas of V&V of safety-critical systems.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field.

2. 10 years of experience in the aviation or aerospace industry or a closely related industry.

3. 5 years of experience in electrical/systems/software development, including V&V.

4. 3 years of experience building and leading technical teams solving complex problems.

5. Familiarity with hands-on troubleshooting across electrical, software, and mechanical domains.

6. Experience applying Systems Engineering principles in the Aerospace industry.

7. Experience managing a test laboratory, preferably a system test integration laboratory.

Preferred Skills:

1. Working knowledge of aerospace engineering processes, certification requirements, and familiarity with flight test operations.

2. Working knowledge of FAR Part 23/25.

3. Experience with FAA certification and knowledge of DO-178 and ARP4754 standards.

4. Experience with automated testing and model-based design.

5. Familiarity with SW version control and problem tracking tools (GIT/JIRA or similar).

6. Experience with engineering process tools for Requirement Management, Configuration Control, and Version Control (DOORS, Confluence, Bitbucket, Teamcenter).

7. Knowledge of CAD (CATIA) and PLM Systems (TeamCenter).

8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

9. Excellent communication skills and a self-starter who takes initiative without supervision.

10. Ability to effectively communicate and present to Senior Program and Engineering Leadership.

Physical Requirements:

1. Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise, heat, cold, dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.

2. Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.

3. Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).

4. Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.

5. Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.

6. Effectively communicate in Business English language.

7. Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.

8. Pull, push, carry, lift, or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided 'reach assistance technology' or 'movement assist technology' (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly's, robotics reach equipment, people movers, etc.), as required by job duties.
