Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and guide a small team of assistants and material handlers.
  • Prepare jobs in accordance with general specifications, interpreting blueprints and specifications to ensure quality aligns with customer expectations.
  • Collaborate directly with management and maintenance to resolve operational challenges.
  • Understand plant directives and communicate a strategy to meet expectations.
  • Foster a positive and cooperative atmosphere with customers, colleagues, subordinates, and management. Engage in quality improvement initiatives to ensure departmental activities meet or exceed quality, service, and performance standards.
  • Maintain a strong attendance record and set a standard for punctuality.
  • Exemplify safe work practices, ensuring work areas are free from hazards that could lead to injuries or accidents. Report any unsafe conditions to management.
  • Conduct ongoing quality inspections to guarantee products meet established standards.
  • Operate die-cutting machinery according to job orders and established procedures.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance and maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the work area.
  • Report tooling issues to the supervisor.
  • Complete tasks within established standards, meeting or exceeding machine setup and run rate goals.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned by supervision or management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours daily.
  • Capability to work around moving, vibrating, rotating, and articulating machine parts while exposed to noise.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds consistently or frequently.
  • Capacity to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and reach regularly.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the corrugated industry operating rotary machines is preferred.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints and basic diagrams. Must be able to interpret manufacturing specifications, apply shop math, and utilize measuring instruments (tape measures, calipers, stopwatches, gauges, calculators, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to work all shifts and required overtime as necessary, typically involving up to 10-hour shifts and 6-hour Saturdays.
  • Effective communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities are essential.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
