Job Summary

R&P Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Composite Technician II to join our team in Pascagoula, MS. As a key member of our ship repair team, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and troubleshooting composite lamination and lay up onboard US Navy ships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Composite Certification and Qualification: Undergo composite certification and qualification training to ensure compliance with applicable installation procedures and practices.
  • Composite Installation and Repair: Execute composite/installation trade repairs and modifications to shipboard composite structures as part of a small team.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all required documentation is completed and retained in the project QA book.
  • Progress Updates: Report daily progress updates to your supervisor or lead.
  • Safety Precautions: Adhere to all safety precautions associated with composite material handling and use, and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations when handling, transporting, and disposing of composite material and hazardous material/waste.
  • Shipyard and OSHA Compliance: Adhere to all shipyard, shipboard, and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Quality Standards: Maintain quality standards associated with composite repair and installation as prescribed by the Composite Workbooks and Composite Owners Manual associated with this work.
  • Technical Skills: Knowing how to read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.
  • Computer Skills: Familiar with basic computer skills and MS-Office programs including Word and Excel.
Requirements
  • Experience: Must be a Composite Technician with a minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships (technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement).
  • Composite Owners Manual Familiarity: Composite Owners Manual familiarity and proficiency.
  • Composite Work Item Workbook Familiarity: Composite Work Item Workbook familiarity and proficiency.
  • NAVY Standard Items: Must be familiar with NAVY Standard Items.
  • Customer Requirements: Ability to read, understand, and follow customer work item requirements and drawings.
  • Attention to Detail: Individual must have a keen attention to detail and be quality metric driven.
  • Security Clearance: Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus).
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English (verbal and written).
  • Shipyard Competent Person Certification: Shipyard competent person certification a plus.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Physical Condition: Excellent physical condition with the ability to lift 50 pounds on your own.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to various locations in support of ship maintenance availabilities.
  • Scheduling: Flexibility with regards to scheduling and planned support due to constant Navy movement.
  • Safety Procedures: Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Navy DBIDS Security Credentials: Ability to obtain and maintain Navy DBIDS security credentials.
