Job Title: Composite Technician II

R&P Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Composite Technician II to join our team in Pascagoula, MS. As a Composite Technician II, you will be responsible for undertaking a variety of tasks related to installing, repairing, and troubleshooting composite lamination and layup onboard US Navy ships.

Responsibilities:
  • Undergo composite certification and qualification training to ensure compliance with applicable installation procedures and practices.
  • Execute composite/installation trade repairs and modifications to shipboard composite structures as part of a small team.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed and retained in the project QA book.
  • Report daily progress updates to your supervisor or lead.
  • Adhere to all safety precautions associated with composite material handling and use, and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations when handling, transporting, and disposing of composite material and hazardous material/waste.
  • Adhere to all shipyard, shipboard, and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Maintain quality standards associated with composite repair and installation as prescribed by the Composite Workbooks and Composite Owners Manual associated with this work.
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.
  • Familiar with basic computer skills and MS-Office programs, including Word and Excel.
Qualifications:
  • Must be a Composite Technician with a minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships (technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement).
  • Composite Owners Manual familiarity and proficiency.
  • Composite Work Item Workbook familiarity and proficiency.
  • Familiar with NAVY Standard Items.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow customer work item requirements and drawings.
  • Individual must have a keen attention to detail and be quality metric driven.
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus).
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written).
  • Secret DOD security Clearance preferred.
  • Shipyard competent person certification a plus.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent physical condition with the ability to lift 50 pounds on your own.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations in support of ship maintenance availabilities.
  • Flexibility with regards to scheduling and planned support due to constant Navy movement.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Navy DBIDS security credentials.
