Lead Ramp Operations Specialist

Join the Menzies Aviation Ramp Operations team as a Lead Ramp Operations Specialist, where you will oversee a dedicated team in the outbound baggage area, managing the efficient loading and unloading of luggage, freight, and cargo from commercial aircraft. This role involves operating specialized vehicles and requires physical stamina for lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and stretching.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage in the safe and continuous handling of cargo and baggage, ensuring the movement of items weighing up to 70lbs on and off aircraft, as well as between various locations such as the outbound baggage area and airport terminals.
- Perform frequent physical tasks including bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, stacking, and kneeling in confined spaces.
- Operate motorized equipment safely and efficiently.
- Interpret and complete essential documentation including aircraft weight and balance load sheets, hazardous material labels, loading manifests, and routing tags for baggage and cargo.
- Ensure the safe receipt and dispatch of flights, maintaining load integrity and compliance with safety regulations.
- Support Ramp Agents in their duties, promoting professionalism, safety, and efficiency in accordance with company standards.
- Facilitate on-the-job training for new employees and assist in airline-specific training as needed.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions required by the company and airlines.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a valid US driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug screening and testing.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Comfortable lifting 70lbs repeatedly.
- Able to work in various weather conditions.
- Pass an FBI background check and obtain a US Customs Seal.
- Flexible availability for variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- High school diploma, GED, or six months of experience as a Ramp Agent is required.
- Prior experience in ramp operations or the airline industry is essential.
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt.
- Capable of understanding and executing oral and written instructions, seeking clarification when necessary.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork.
- Able to build and maintain professional relationships.
- $27.23 per hour.
