Position Summary:
The Sheet Metal Fabricator plays a crucial role in shaping and finishing sheet metal components in accordance with specified design requirements. This position is ideal for individuals who are hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe operations by following all safety protocols and reporting any hazards to management.
- Identify and execute optimal work processes to produce parts that meet quality standards while adhering to cost expectations.
- Perform tasks such as cutting, sanding, tapping, countersinking, and shaping sheet metal.
- Interpret both metric and imperial engineering drawings.
- Inspect workpieces for defects and verify compliance with specifications.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality of components.
- Contribute to cost and lead time reductions through innovative manufacturing solutions.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Conduct basic preventive maintenance on machinery.
- Facilitate smooth transitions between shifts through effective communication.
- Adhere to all relevant laws, company policies, and procedures, including HSE, ISO, and Quality standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education:
Preferred candidates will possess a 2-year Technical Degree. A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent educational background is required.
Experience:
Applicants should have at least 1 year of experience in sheet metal fabrication, along with an associate's or vocational degree in a related technical field, or a combination of 3+ years of education and work experience. Candidates must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics, demonstrate self-motivation and problem-solving skills, manage time and resources efficiently, and work independently. Proficiency in both imperial and metric measurement systems, basic computer skills, and strong communication abilities are essential. Willingness to work overtime as needed is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with laser cutting and familiarity with low volume, high mix manufacturing environments are advantageous.
