Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Curator to join the team at the Fralin Museum of Art. As a key member of the Curatorial Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the department, supervising staff, and overseeing exhibitions and collections.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the Curatorial Department, including supervising staff and overseeing exhibitions and collections
Develop and implement long-term growth strategies for the department
Collaborate with the Museum Director and COO to develop departmental budgets and oversee exhibitions, loans, and acquisitions
Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote the work of the department and Museum

Requirements

Master's degree in art history or related field and at least three years of experience in a related field
Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD degree in art history and five years of experience
Knowledge of museum practices and procedures, exhibition development and organization, and diversity, equity, access, and inclusion (DEAI) promotion
Strong communication, organization, and project management skills
Ability to perform research, scholarship, and public speaking
