Job Summary

Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital is seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Nurse to join our team. As a CVICU Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients with cardiovascular conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including monitoring vital signs, reviewing medical history, and identifying potential complications.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients' cardiovascular status and respond to changes in their condition, including adjusting medications and treatments as needed.
  • Intervention: Perform interventions, such as administering medications, adjusting mechanical ventilators, and managing fluid and electrolyte balance, to maintain patients' cardiovascular stability.
  • Communication: Communicate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists, to coordinate care and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatments, and prognosis, and address any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient information and treatments, including medication administration, vital signs, and any adverse reactions or changes in condition.
Requirements:
  • A current registered nursing license
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
  • Experience working in a critical care or intensive care setting
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work well in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
  • Excellent patient care skills
