Responsibilities:
As a Phlebotomist, you will engage with laboratory customers professionally and promptly respond to inquiries. You will procure blood specimens using venipuncture, heelstick, and fingerstick techniques, adhering to patient identification protocols.
You will instruct patients on self-collection procedures for laboratory specimens, providing clear guidance and support. You will demonstrate reliability and independent judgment to prioritize departmental needs and support workflow efficiency.
You will transport specimens from on-site and off-site locations to the laboratory, following established safety protocols. You will adhere to laboratory and hospital policies regarding procedures, quality control, and safety.
You will perform administrative support duties and utilize computer systems to accurately manage demographic information and test orders. You will train and orient new employees, students, and residents, fostering a supportive learning environment.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent. Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program is preferred. Experience performing phlebotomy, medical terminology knowledge, and laboratory information system experience are also preferred.
