Position Overview

Clinical and Rehabilitation Assistance:

  • Support general patient care in clinical environments, including preparation for examinations and procedures under guidance.
  • Execute fundamental rehabilitation technician responsibilities such as arranging equipment, preparing treatment spaces, and aiding patients with exercises as directed by licensed professionals.
  • Assist in documenting patient data and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Help with initial assessments and preparation for athletic training evaluations, including setup for virtual consultations and taping as instructed by an Athletic Trainer.

Health and Fitness Support:

  • Aid HealthPlex Fitness and Wellness staff by maintaining cleanliness and organization of gym facilities.
  • Assist in orienting new members to gym amenities and equipment.
  • Under supervision, perform basic fitness evaluations and provide guidance on exercise programs.
  • Potentially offer personal training or other fitness services based on the intern's qualifications and training.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with data entry, analysis, and upkeep of departmental databases.
  • Conduct research on various topics related to rehabilitation services and present findings to department leadership.
  • Create and manage forms, spreadsheets, and presentations to facilitate departmental operations.
  • Coordinate schedules, assist in organizing files, and perform general office tasks as required.

Athletic Training Assistance:

  • Support Athletic Trainers during practices and events, including setup and teardown of practice and competition areas.
  • Provide basic first aid and emergency care under the supervision of licensed professionals.
  • Assist in organizing and executing wellness initiatives, such as pre-participation physicals and injury prevention programs.
  • Help coordinate meetings and prepare for discussions with school and hospital officials.
  • Perform taping and other interventions once trained and deemed competent by the athletic training team.
  • Assist and support athletic trainers in virtual health services.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit flexibility and adaptability to undertake additional tasks as necessary to support departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and optimal experiences for patients and members.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in an Associate's or Bachelor's program or completion of an Associate's program in a relevant health field.
  • Possess BLS/CPR/First Aid certification or obtain within two weeks of hire.
  • Previous experience in a related support role is advantageous, but not mandatory.
  • Basic knowledge of sports medicine, athletic training, rehabilitation services, fitness, and/or wellness programs.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and adapt to evolving priorities.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily operates in clinical, fitness, and office settings.
  • Must be available for flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and on-call as necessary, particularly when supporting athletic trainers and their student athletes.
  • Involves setup and breakdown for programs and events, with exposure to equipment with moving mechanical parts.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to drive, use hands, stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, balance, talk, and hear.
  • Must be capable of lifting or exerting force up to 10 pounds 25% of the time, 25 pounds 50% of the time, and up to 50 pounds 25% of the time.
  • Requires distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Cognitive Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret business or safety manuals, clinical or technical procedures, or regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and manuals.
  • Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to inquiries from groups, patients, families, other employees, and medical staff.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to address problems involving concrete variables and standardized situations.

Population Served:

  • Interacts with children, adolescents, adults, and elderly individuals.
  • Provides direct care and services tailored to the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related needs of members in the assigned work area.

Additional Information

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Work Experience: 3 years - Current enrollment in an Associate's or Bachelor's program or completion of an Associate's program in a relevant health field.
