This part-time position as an Extended Day Teacher serves at a Head Start and/or Early Head Start center, operating from 2:00pm-6:00pm. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Teacher to ensure the smooth operation of a classroom of children following the Head Start/Early Head Start operating day. Additionally, they will collaborate with a team of other classroom Teachers and family members to implement the curriculum and achieve outcomes for children of all abilities.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Communication and Service Coordination: Establish and maintain effective communication with colleagues, families, and community partners to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Accurately record and report progress, incidents, and other important events in accordance with Acelero Learning's policies and procedures.
  • On-going Monitoring/Self-assessment: Regularly assess and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented strategies and make necessary adjustments to optimize results.

The ideal candidate will plan and implement learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children. This includes improving their readiness for school by developing literacy and numeracy skills, enhancing language understanding, and promoting problem-solving abilities. Furthermore, the successful candidate will establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment, support the social and emotional development of children, and encourage family involvement in the Head Start program.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: A minimum educational requirement for this role.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to lift a child weighing 40 pounds, 20 times a day if needed.
  • Computer Literacy: Basic proficiency in email usage, word processing, and internet navigation.
  • Certifications and Background Checks: Pass a physical examination and all required background checks.
