Job Summary

The Mental Health Therapist (Bilingual) will work as a team member with social service professionals and paraprofessionals to deliver quality care in accordance with Los Angeles Department of Mental Health regulations and St. Joseph Center's mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted outreach, engagement, and education activities to Latino individuals and families to increase awareness of mental health and health issues.
  • Offer ongoing mental health and crisis intervention services to a caseload of consumers, promoting wellness and recovery.
Essential Duties
  • Facilitate and complete Adult Initial Assessments and Reassessments, collecting required documentation.
  • Submit progress notes using EXYM, adhering to SJC/DMH guidelines in a timely manner.
  • Participate in regular team meetings with the Latino ISM, providing feedback on clients in the recovery process.
  • Collaborate with the program psychiatrist on a weekly basis for clients on medication regimens.
  • Refer clients to higher levels of care as needed.
  • Document and bill all activities according to agency and/or funder requirements.
  • Support other SJC/DMH programs with monthly after-hours crisis services.
  • Develop and implement quarterly curriculum for wellness groups.
  • Occasionally assist clients with case management services.
Qualifications
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
  • Must be highly motivated and a self-starter.
  • Ability to communicate with and relate to diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
Experience
  • Experience in Hispanic culture is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with providing mental health assessments using diagnostic criteria from the DSM-IV.
Education
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field.
Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and widely supported internet browsers.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • CA BBS registered ACSW, AMFT, APCC.
  • Valid California Class C Driver License or alternative transportation method.
  • Valid automobile liability insurance.
Travel Requirements
  • This is a field-based position with travel to clients' homes and in-person services.
  • Must have car or personal transportation for services outside the office.
  • Mileage reimbursement available.
  • Company van available for client transportation.
