About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Architect to join our team at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). As a member of our Space + Design Branch, you will play a key role in executing a wide range of micro/small/medium interior renovation projects to enhance research laboratory and office workplace environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage micro/small/medium interior renovations, including scientific equipment installations, furniture installations/reconfigurations, personnel relocations, laboratory casework modifications, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trade coordination.
  • Independently manage large-scale laboratory/office relocation efforts.
  • Work closely with senior project managers to gain experience and help execute larger, more complex renovation projects.
  • Conduct project close-out reviews to reflect on current processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to team discussions and collaborative branch improvement efforts.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and implement special programs and projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in architecture, engineering, construction, project management, or lab planning.
  • 3+ years' experience in architecture, engineering, construction, project management, or lab planning industries.
  • Experience with writing scopes of work, estimating costs, developing programs of requirement, assembling and reviewing construction documents.
  • Experience with BIM and CAD.
  • Familiarity with the architectural design process.
  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, and visual.
  • Dynamic personality with a high level of interpersonal skills for effectively collaborating with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize a multitude of interdependent complex tasks and schedules.
