About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Denver, CO. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading geotechnical engineering projects and providing technical expertise to clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and oversee field exploration/characterization and laboratory testing of soil and rock materials.
  • Oversee teams performing material characterization, seepage and slope stability analyses and designing slope stabilization measures for dams and spillways.
  • Prepare and present technical presentations to project teams, clients, regulators, and technical review boards.
  • Supervise preparation of technical reports, independent dam safety inspections, and potential failure mode analyses.
  • Conduct potential failure mode analyses and risk analyses for water storage and hydropower dams.
  • Project Management – tracking scope, schedule and budget.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 20+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in dam design and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with design reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience leading tasks with effective delegation skills.
