Job Title: Clinical Research Nurse

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a skilled Clinical Research Nurse to join its team at the Office of Human Research Services at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.



Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the successful, patient-oriented, safe, and effective conduct of clinical trials at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The Clinical Research Nurse will assist investigators in preparing and implementing new clinical trials, screen and enroll study participants, and provide protocol-related clinical management to those participants while on study.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Protocol Activation office to initiate and activate new clinical trial protocols assigned, utilizing Oncore Study-start up task list.
  • Collaborate with the clinical research team to ensure timely prescreening of potential subjects and active cancer patients for all available clinical trials.
  • Review patient charts and medical history to confirm protocol eligibility and obtain source documents as needed.
  • Serve as an essential link between patients and all other members of the research team.
  • Actively identify, address, and communicate to the study team and supervisor any challenges with completion of protocol required procedures and/or adherence to protocol required timelines.
  • Drive collaboration with all integrated, academic medical system staff to ensure that services are coordinated and delivered to patients in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the promotion of teamwork and delegate tasks to other groups as appropriate.
  • In collaboration with the physician, accurately grade adverse events using the protocol-referenced version of National Cancer Institute (NCI) common toxicity criteria or protocol-specific grading scales to objectively document toxicities.


Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • A graduate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey.
  • At least one year of oncology experience.
  • An active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maximize resources and be resourceful.


Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will also possess:



  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Three to five years of oncology research experience.
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN).
  • Association of Clinical Research Professionals as a Clinical Research Analyst (CRA) or Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) certification as a Clinical Research Professional (CCRP).


Work Environment:

This is a full-time position with a 40-hour workweek. The work environment is an office setting with moderate noise levels.
