Job Summary

The incumbent serves as a senior MR technologist performing advanced MR research studies in the UCSF Human Imaging Research Core, solving procedural and technical problems as they arise, and assisting researchers in analyzing and archiving MR image data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform imaging studies in the research environment, including injections, safe handling, and proper disposal of contrast agents, possibly including radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Assist in expanding successful research programs at the Neuroimaging Technology Research Center (NTRC), including outreach to new investigators, planning new studies, and interaction with clinic scheduling to increase usage of the MR.
  • Provide technical knowledge and/or coordinate the delivery of MRI services, operating a variety of equipment, including high-field strength magnets and support systems, with MRI safety as a priority.
  • Coordinate patient care, acquisition, processing, and archiving of all patient data, and train new staff on new technologies.
  • Maintain and operate equipment according to manufacturer's specifications, reporting all problems appropriately.
Requirements
  • ARRT-approved MRI certification
  • BLS (CPR) certification
  • Venipuncture certification
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with high-field magnetic resonance systems
  • Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts, and coverage for weekends and holidays
  • Ability to perform 3 out of 6 specialty scans: Cardiac Imaging, Fetal Imaging, Whole Body Pediatric Scans, Special Procedures (HIFU/DBS, etc.), Pediatric/Adult Anesthesia, and Breast Imaging
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent work experience in an acute care setting
  • CRT licensure
  • MRSO
