Job Title: Nuclear Engineer / Mechanical Engineer

Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC is seeking a Nuclear Engineer / Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a Nuclear Engineer / Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing nuclear steam supply systems, control systems, and other mechanical systems.

  • Design and analyze nuclear steam supply systems, control systems, and other mechanical systems.
  • Develop and maintain functional design documents and diagrams.
  • Perform operational transient analyses to test I&C logic and settings.
  • Analyze normal operating transients and propose plant modifications to address operational issues.
  • Develop and maintain plant NSSS Design Transients for component qualification calculations.
  • Perform uncertainty analysis using the Nuclear Regulatory Committee (NRC) approved Westinghouse Setpoint Methodology (WSM).
Responsibilities:
  • Design and analyze nuclear steam supply systems, control systems, and other mechanical systems.

Requirements:
  • BS in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering.
  • Strong technical interest and willingness to learn.
  • Previous knowledge of overall design and operation of Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) and systems is preferred but not required.
  • Experience modeling PWR transients is preferred but not required.
  • A basic knowledge of statistics and data analysis is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles (including fluid mechanics and thermodynamics).
  • Ability to evaluate analysis inputs and results to develop a specific technical solution that addresses customer requirements.
  • Ability to work within a team and coordinate external support, as needed, to successfully complete project scope.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) analyses basis, summary of results, proposed solutions, and implementation instructions to customers and team members.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive customer relationships by positively addressing customer concerns and issues.
