Facility Maintenance Supervisor

Position Overview: The Facility Maintenance Supervisor is accountable for the overall operational condition of the facility and its assets. This role involves dual reporting; the supervisor will report to the Plant Manager for daily operations and to the RCM Regional Manager for technical guidance and asset management strategy. The primary objective of this position is to enhance equipment uptime, reduce maintenance costs, and oversee expenditures related to machinery, spare parts, and consumables. The supervisor plays a critical role in supporting production objectives by delivering high-quality maintenance services that help achieve production targets. Key responsibilities include: operational efficiency, continuous improvement initiatives, proactive maintenance strategies, planning and scheduling, contractor oversight, vendor and inventory management, implementation of best practices, and team training and development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all personnel, visitors, vendors, and contractors adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Establish goals and expectations for the maintenance team.
  • Participate in Performance Excellence initiatives within the facility.
  • Assist production departments in maintaining safety and quality standards, including compliance audits.
  • Align and execute the Maintenance and Reliability vision and strategy.
  • Ensure production equipment operates as intended.
  • Manage and execute preventative maintenance and reliability programs.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to formulate the maintenance budget and monitor monthly repair and maintenance expenditures.
  • Lead root-cause analysis within the maintenance team to address failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze maintenance and reliability metrics to assess performance.
  • Support production leadership in training staff on proper equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Optimize storeroom and spare parts inventory to guarantee availability of necessary components.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules to align with production timelines.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of equipment history, work performed, and preventative maintenance activities using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Oversee ongoing maintenance and reliability projects focused on asset performance and defect resolution.
  • Manage team development, including recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate skill development sessions for maintenance personnel, emphasizing safety and operational standards.
  • Actively mentor the maintenance team, providing constructive feedback to foster professional growth.
Qualifications:
  • A recognized engineering qualification with practical knowledge in electrical and mechanical systems, preferably at the degree level in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Production Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in leading Reliability Centered Maintenance processes.
  • Significant experience in a chemical production setting.
  • Proven experience in managing a maintenance department with a focus on Safety & Health, Environmental, Quality, Production, and Project management.
  • Proficient in asset management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications and asset management software.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication abilities and a collaborative team player.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of machinery, with experience in instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Ability to navigate the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders, and working at heights.
  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including dusty and noisy settings, year-round.
