Job Title: Host

Your role as a Host at Cafe Hollander is crucial to our success. As the first point of contact for our guests, you set the tone for their entire dining experience. A warm and welcoming greeting can make all the difference in creating a positive atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Food & Beverage Quality Assurance: Ensure that our food and beverages meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Menu Knowledge: Be familiar with our menu offerings and able to make recommendations to guests.
  • Rotation Seating: Manage seating arrangements to ensure a smooth and efficient dining experience.
  • Welcoming: Greet guests warmly and make them feel welcome in our cafe.
  • Aware of Events & Specials: Stay informed about upcoming events and specials to provide guests with relevant information.
  • Friendly & Attentive Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by being attentive, friendly, and responsive to guests' needs.
  • Responsible Cash Handling: Handle cash and credit transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Service Speed: Maintain a fast and efficient service pace to ensure guests receive their food and beverages in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a neat, organized front-of-house environment: Keep the front-of-house area clean and organized to create a positive impression for guests.
  • Assist with opening/closing tasks and side work as needed: Assist with opening and closing tasks, as well as side work, to ensure a smooth operation.
Qualifications:
  • Team Player: Be able to work effectively as part of a team to achieve common goals.
  • Team Communication: Communicate clearly and effectively with team members to ensure a smooth operation.
  • Performs assigned tasks: Perform tasks assigned by management to ensure the smooth operation of the cafe.
  • Continuous development of food & beverage product knowledge: Stay up-to-date with our menu offerings and be able to make recommendations to guests.
  • Customer Service Skills: Provide exceptional customer service by being attentive, friendly, and responsive to guests' needs.
  • Ability to maintain Professionalism at all times: Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, even in challenging situations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly: Communicate clearly and effectively with guests and team members.
  • Ability to work well with others: Be able to work effectively with others to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to multi-task: Be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously to ensure a smooth operation.

General Physical Demands: Hosts will regularly stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, turn, lift, talk, walk, walk on uneven ground, carry and lift up to fifty (50) pounds. Team lift is required for anything over twenty-five (25) pounds or any awkward lifting.
