Job Summary

The State of New Mexico is seeking a Medical Epidemiologist to join our team in the fight against healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). As a key member of our team, you will provide clinical and technical expertise to direct and implement HAI activities under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Emerging Infections Program (EIP) and Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Infectious Diseases (ELC) Cooperative Agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contain emerging threats from antibiotic-resistant organisms
  • Detect and respond to outbreaks within healthcare facilities
  • Promote surveillance through the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN)
  • Expand prevention efforts through collaborations and innovative approaches

Requirements

  • Medical Degree from an accredited medical school
  • At least two years of experience in infection control practice, research project management, protocol implementation, and analysis of healthcare facility data
  • Licensure and certification to practice in New Mexico

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, and lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds may be required. Some travel with the occasional overnight stay is required.

Supplemental Information

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
