Job Details

WestCare Foundation is seeking a skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related clinical field and a Florida license in the mental health field.

The Mental Health Specialist will provide a full range of assessment, consultation, and psychotherapeutic services for mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders. The specialist will engage in direct staff hours of service for assigned clients, conduct intake assessments, and develop and maintain written treatment plans.

The Mental Health Specialist will also conduct individual, group, and family counseling activities, prepare written documentation for each service conducted, and participate in required staff development and training activities.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two to three years of related work experience in mental health and/or substance abuse, preferably both. The specialist will be required to maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical areas of practice and participate in trainings on trauma-informed care, assessing and treating victims of domestic violence, and other relevant topics.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provides a full range of assessment, consultation, and psychotherapeutic services for mental health, substance abuse, and co-occurring disorders.
  2. Engages in direct staff hours of service for assigned clients.
  3. Conducts intake assessments and develops and maintains written treatment plans.
  4. Conducts individual, group, and family counseling activities.
  5. Prepares written documentation for each service conducted.
  6. Participates in required staff development and training activities.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related clinical field.
  • Florida license in the mental health field.
  • Minimum of two to three years of related work experience in mental health and/or substance abuse, preferably both.
  • Affidavit of good moral character.
  • Clearance in pre-employment drug testing and criminal records checks, as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop and maintain client rapport, knowledge of generally acceptable clinical assessment procedures, and in-depth and current knowledge of psychotherapeutic treatment modalities and techniques.
