The Nursing Unit Supervisor (RN) will oversee the daily operations of nursing aides and nursing personnel, while also providing direct patient care.
This role encompasses the planning, organization, development, and management of educational programs for facility staff, ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the established policies and procedures of the organization.
- Supervise the daily activities of nursing aides and nursing staff.
- Administer direct nursing care to patients.
- Perform essential administrative tasks, including documentation of notes and reports.
- Manage patient admissions, transfers, and discharges in accordance with established protocols.
- Identify and respond to changes in patients' conditions, documenting observations, interventions, and outcomes.
- Ensure all verbal orders from physicians are properly documented and signed off.
Conduct and/or oversee prescribed treatments, such as dressing changes, blood draws, catheter management, and laboratory work.
Continuously monitor and update care plans as necessary during each shift.
Participate in surveys conducted by authorized regulatory agencies.
Address and report any complaints or grievances from patients, families, visitors, and staff.
Regularly assess the facility for potential health and safety risks.
Required Work Experience:
~ Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other healthcare institution.
Graduate from an accredited nursing program with a Registered Nursing (RN) Degree.
Current Registered Nursing (RN) License in the state of Tennessee.
This position may require flexible hours, including unscheduled overtime and weekend work.
Supervises support staff.
