POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general oversight, this role involves active participation in the Individual Education Program Planning Team, contributing to decisions regarding the placement of students with exceptional needs. The primary focus is on assessing and addressing both receptive and expressive language skills of individual students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Advise on suitable diagnostic and instructional services for individuals experiencing communication challenges.
  • Administer therapeutic educational programs for students with language, speech, and hearing disorders.
  • Implement and track individualized education plans for students.
  • Provide consultancy, resources, and supervisory support in program and curriculum development, research, and evaluation for specialized language initiatives within the educational institution and district.
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to devise instructional strategies tailored to the needs of students with communication disorders.
  • Connect individuals with communication disorders to relevant community resources when district services are insufficient.
  • Engage with parents or guardians and interdisciplinary team members, including external agencies, regarding the needs of students with communication challenges.
  • Design specialized training programs for school and community personnel.
  • Develop educational programs for parents and provide individual or group counseling to assist in the prevention and remediation of communication disorders when necessary.
  • Participate in professional development activities at local, state, and national levels.
  • Contribute as a member of a district department focused on maintaining standards and evaluating speech and language services.
QUALIFICATIONS:

A valid California Credential or license permitting service in assigned grade levels and areas is required.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communicative Disorders or a closely related field.
  • Master's degree encompassing all courses necessary to meet credentialing requirements.

While executing the responsibilities of this role, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

These positions are available for the academic year.

INCENTIVES FOR QUALIFIED APPLICANTS:
  • $5,000 signing bonus for credentialed applicants.
  • Placement on the salary schedule based on current salary or credit for years of full-time experience, whichever is higher.
  • Relocation expense stipend up to $2,500 for candidates who must move to accept a position.


Applicants who are not fully credentialed but possess a bachelor's degree in Communicative Disorders, Speech Language Pathology, or a related field and are enrolled in a credentialing program may receive:
  • $2,500 signing bonus.
  • Placement on the salary schedule based on current salary or credit for years of full-time experience, whichever is higher.
  • Relocation expense stipend up to $2,500 for candidates who must move to accept a position.


All candidates must sign an agreement acknowledging a potential requirement to serve in the position for a minimum of five years. Failure to meet this requirement may result in a payroll deduction of the signing bonus and/or moving expenses.
