Job SummaryWe are seeking highly motivated and compassionate individuals to join our ER and ICU Animal Care Assistant team as Kennel Assistants and Veterinary Assistants (Level 1). These roles are ideal for those looking to start their career in the veterinary industry or seeking to advance their skills and experience.
Responsibilities- Maintain a clean and sterile work environment, including tasks such as laundry, garbage services, kennel cleaning, and supply management.
- Provide animal care, including walks, feeding, and cleaning, as well as assisting with animal restraint during exams and transporting patients safely.
- Assist veterinarians and technicians as needed with animal restraint, lab work, and other tasks.
- Provide exceptional client service and support, including answering questions and addressing concerns.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure seamless patient care and a positive experience for clients.
- A genuine love of and respect for all animals.
- Experience or education equivalent to a High School Diploma.
- Valid Oregon driver's license for driving the DoveLewis transport van (strongly preferred).
- Understanding of animal behavior and knowledge of safe animal handling and transport practices.
- 1+ year experience working in animal care, such as at a veterinary clinic, kennel, shelter, grooming facility, or animal daycare (required for Veterinary Assistant Level 1).
- Advancing your emergency and critical care skillset at a teaching hospital dedicated to the growth of our employees.
