Job Summary

The Quarry Plant Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining the rock, sand, and gravel plant to ensure efficient and safe production of materials used in construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Plant Equipment: Operate rock, sand, and gravel plant to batch, crush, or segregate materials used in construction.
  • Monitor Plant Operations: Move controls on panel board or control board to control feeding, crushing, and sifting machinery in sand and gravel plant.
  • Maintain Plant Equipment: Assist in maintenance of plant equipment and in compiling reports regarding plant production and plant maintenance.
  • Ensure Safety: Observe gauges, dials, and operation of machinery to ensure conformance to processing specifications.
  • Perform Physical Demands: Must be able to climb stairs/ladders to top of plant.
  • Use Hand Tools: Uses tools such as sledge hammer, wrench, screwdriver, cutting torch, welder, pneumatic hammer/drill, sand blaster, pipe wrench.
  • Communicate Effectively: Answers telephone, radio, and takes and inputs orders.
Requirements
  • Education: Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Experience: Previous related experience in construction field is preferred but not required.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to climb, stoop, bend, squat, lifting, stretching, pushing, pulling, vibration, twisting, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, and reaching. Requires occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs.
  • Work Environment: Must be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Teamwork: Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.
  • Age: Be at least age 18 years of age due to nature of working environment.
