The Quarry Plant Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining the rock, sand, and gravel plant to ensure efficient and safe production of materials used in construction.
Key Responsibilities- Operate Plant Equipment: Operate rock, sand, and gravel plant to batch, crush, or segregate materials used in construction.
- Monitor Plant Operations: Move controls on panel board or control board to control feeding, crushing, and sifting machinery in sand and gravel plant.
- Maintain Plant Equipment: Assist in maintenance of plant equipment and in compiling reports regarding plant production and plant maintenance.
- Ensure Safety: Observe gauges, dials, and operation of machinery to ensure conformance to processing specifications.
- Perform Physical Demands: Must be able to climb stairs/ladders to top of plant.
- Use Hand Tools: Uses tools such as sledge hammer, wrench, screwdriver, cutting torch, welder, pneumatic hammer/drill, sand blaster, pipe wrench.
- Communicate Effectively: Answers telephone, radio, and takes and inputs orders.
- Education: Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Experience: Previous related experience in construction field is preferred but not required.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to climb, stoop, bend, squat, lifting, stretching, pushing, pulling, vibration, twisting, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, and reaching. Requires occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs.
- Work Environment: Must be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
- Teamwork: Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.
- Age: Be at least age 18 years of age due to nature of working environment.
