Healthcare Specialist

This position supports the provision of patient care using telehealth technologies, increasing a Veteran's access to care and supporting self-management. The ideal candidate will develop and deliver virtual and digital technologies to help Veterans communicate with their healthcare teams and coordinate their healthcare.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare the clinical environment, including medical and telecommunications equipment, for clinical examination and treatment.
- Serve as a telepresenter during clinical video telehealth (CVT) and VA Video Connect (VVC) encounters, establishing and maintaining video conferencing connections and following clinician instructions.
- Manage store and forward telehealth (SFT) clinical encounters, capturing images, collecting data, and transmitting them electronically for clinical review.
- Receive and schedule telehealth appointments, screen patients for telehealth modality, and refer patients who do not meet established criteria to appropriate care.
- Monitor and maintain schedules of rooms, patients, technologies, and clinical providers to ensure efficient telehealth operations.
- Configure, install, troubleshoot, clean, and perform minor routine maintenance of assigned telehealth technology.
- Ensure assigned telehealth technologies are managed appropriately, including inventory, security, and maintenance.
- Arrange and complete test video calls with Veterans to prepare them for clinical encounters using telehealth technologies.
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- English Language Proficiency: A candidate will not be appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C. chapters 73 or 74, to serve in a direct patient-care capacity in VHA who is not proficient in written and spoken English.
- Experience: One year of experience in a health care field that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work or provides an understanding of the work.
- Education: Four academic years above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation.
The work requires some physical exertion, including prolonged periods of standing, bending, reaching, crouching, stooping, stretching, and lifting moderately heavy items. The work requires above-average agility and dexterity.
The incumbent may be required to travel between VA and/or Non-VA clinical care sites and possession of a valid driver's license may be required.
