Job Summary:

This role performs prescribed Sonography procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. The ideal candidate will competently perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

• Positions patients and performs imaging procedures.
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results, taking appropriate action to resolve image quality issues.
• Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders, educating patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure patient understanding and cooperation.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice, monitoring patient condition continually and reporting/responding to changes in status as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies, selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters, and implements safety standards and performs quality control procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year of relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of associate's degree.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Sonography-RT(S) or Vascular Sonography-RT(VS) certification and registration via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Breast (BS) via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) earned prior to 2011, or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) certification via Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required within 12 months of hire.
• Technologists who have been performing ultrasound prior to and continuously since October 1996 and have been evaluated by a responsible physician to assure competence are not required to obtain certification.
• Employees in an Ultrasound role prior to July 1, 2022 who do not have certifications are not required to obtain them.
• CPR – American Heart Association certification
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior sonography experience
