Job Summary

This casual position at Highmark Health requires a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to perform prescribed Sonography procedures with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ultrasound technology and be able to work independently with a high level of initiative and judgment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Positions patients and performs imaging procedures with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with image quality, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Enters, transmits, and reports scan results in a timely manner.
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders, educating patients on procedures and equipment as necessary.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice, monitoring patient condition and reporting/responding to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies, selecting appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs quality control procedures on equipment, troubleshooting and resolving equipment malfunctions as necessary.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year of relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of associate's degree.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Sonography-RT(S) or Vascular Sonography- RT(VS) certification and registration via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Breast (BS) via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) earned prior to 2011, or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) certification via Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 12 months of hire.
  • CPR - American Heart Association certification.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior sonography experience.
