Sous Chef

The Sous Chef is a key member of the Pinehurst Resort culinary team, responsible for assisting the Resort Executive Chef in managing kitchen department operations. This role requires a high level of food quality, safety, and sanitation expertise, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist the Resort Executive Chef in planning and executing menu development, inventory management, and food preparation.
- Supervise a team of 15-20 employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Collaborate with the Steward Supervisor and Executive Steward to manage kitchen equipment and supplies.
- Develop and implement effective inventory management systems to minimize waste and optimize resource utilization.
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure that all food and beverage products meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree required; Culinary School Degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years culinary and supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license and successful completion of a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and annual MVRs.
The Sous Chef will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with frequent exposure to heat, noise, and physical demands. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods is required.
