Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Northeast Georgia Health System, Inc. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory testing, while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and stat testing in established time frames with minimal discrepancies.
  • Analyze samples independently, adhering to established criteria and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Consult with senior laboratory staff on questionable or unusual test results.
  • Input data accurately into the laboratory information system.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, suggesting process enhancements and best practices.
  • Assist in the precepting of medical laboratory technology students, as assigned.
  • Attend regular continuing education sessions to stay up-to-date on the latest laboratory techniques and technologies.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology or related field.
  • ASCP, NCA, or AMT certification (or equivalent).
  • Minimum one year of laboratory experience (or equivalent).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two to three years of laboratory experience.
  • Preferred certifications: ASCP, NCA, or AMT.
  • Preferred educational background: Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology or related field.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, frequently.
  • Ability to carry up to 20 pounds, occasionally.
  • Good vision, frequently.
  • Ability to kneel, stoop, or bend, occasionally.
  • Ability to stand or walk, frequently.
