Job Summary:

The Lundquist Institute is seeking a highly skilled Nutrition Specialist to join our team. As a Nutrition Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting nutrition and health education activities and performing nutritional and breastfeeding/chestfeeding risk assessments for low-risk and high-risk WIC Program participants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform nutritional and breastfeeding/chestfeeding risk assessment and follow-up
• Conduct individual and group nutrition education and breastfeeding/chestfeeding support for low-risk and high-risk participants in the WIC Program utilizing motivational interviewing and other participant-centered education techniques as appropriate
• Document care plans, assessment data, follow-up notes, and referrals in the Woman, Infant, and Children Web Information System Exchange (WIC WISE) database
• Reinforce Medical Nutrition therapy when made available by Health Care Providers
• Consult with physicians, Lactation Consultants, and other health professional staff relating to participants who have special health care needs, breastfeeding problems, and therapeutic formula prescriptions
• Conduct presentations to WIC staff on a variety of program and nutrition topics
• Be responsible for other tasks as assigned to support WIC Program site operations

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
• In-depth knowledge of maternal and child health and nutrition
• Valid California driver's license, proof of personal auto insurance, and dependable personal transportation with current California registration for traveling to WIC sites and the administrative office for meetings
• Willingness to become proficient in basic conversational Spanish

Salary:
$19.00-$32.18/hr.
