Direct Support Staff

My Ace Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Staff to join our team. As a Direct Support Staff, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in their homes and communities.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the development and implementation of service/recovery plans reflecting the individual's preferences, goals, lifestyles, and interests.
- Schedule medical appointments for consumers and provide transportation for appointments, outings, etc.
- Perform administrative duties, including accepting/delivering accurate messages, filing, and preparing meals.
- Supervise, assist, and train consumers in self-care and independent living skills, including bathing and all areas of personal hygiene.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the ISP and assist consumers in food shopping, preparation, serving, cleaning, and care of home, laundry, personal hygiene, menu planning, and implementation, etc.
- Document consumer progress and other necessary documentation.
- Ensure confidentiality of consumer records.
- Perform related work as required.
- High school diploma/GED plus four years of related work experience is required OR Two years of college plus two years of related work experience OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related field.
- CPRP certification preferred.
- A valid state driver's license and the ability and willingness to drive an agency van required.
- Must be able to write and speak English in an understandable manner.
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information required.
- Lifting is required.
- Ability to lift at least a minimum of twenty (20) pounds.
- Ability to physically assist individuals in personal care.
- Ability to perform common household cleaning activities that involve: consistent standing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and walking.
- Shovel snow off of walkways, sidewalks, and porches if applicable.
