Early Childhood Educator

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Teacher to join our team at the Community YMCA's Early Learning Center. As an Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and engaging environment for young children to learn and grow.

The Assistant Teacher will assist in implementing and evaluating the daily operations of the Child Care classroom, upholding the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a commitment to continuous quality program improvements.

• Plan and implement daily activities that meet the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development of each individual child.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with families, keeping parents/guardians well informed regarding the child's growth and development.
• Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all children, maintaining a clean and well-supervised classroom and outdoor areas.
• Utilize positive guidance techniques, incorporating the YMCA values, when working with children, families, and coworkers.
• Attend all staff meetings and family events as instructed by the Center Director.
• Maintain all paperwork, including attendance, developmental screenings, child assessments, and accident/incident reports, and submit to the Child Care Office in a timely manner.

• Minimum age of 18.
• A high school diploma or General Education Certificate and 2 years (2500 hours) documented experience working with children.
• Strong Leadership and Communication Skills.
• A commitment to continuous quality program improvements.
• Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED and Pediatric First Aid within 15 days of hire.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

The Assistant Teacher must be able to lift and carry 15-50 pounds, have sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of the position, and be able to see, hear, direct, and assist members, guests, and staff to ensure safety.
