The Augusta mill is strategically positioned along the Savannah River, marking the boundary between Georgia and South Carolina. This facility specializes in the production of light, medium, and heavyweight coated paperboard.

With a robust investment in infrastructure, the mill has a production capacity of approximately 600 thousand tons and has been operational for nearly 65 years. Spanning 3,000 acres, it operates two paper machines capable of producing 1,940 tons daily.

As Clearwater Paper's largest paperboard manufacturing site, the Augusta Mill plays a pivotal role in the company's strategic vision and future growth.


Augusta, Georgia, is a lively community situated about 150 miles east of Atlanta and 70 miles west of Columbia, offering a rich tapestry of experiences for all. The area is home to historical sites, recreational opportunities, vibrant music scenes, family-friendly festivals, and other memorable activities that capture a sense of community.

The downtown area features many of Augusta's beloved attractions, unique dining options, and nightlife.

From March to November, the Augusta Market showcases local and regional artisans at the Riverwalk's 8th Street entrance.

The Masters Tournament has elevated Augusta's profile globally, reinforcing its reputation for tradition, hospitality, and cultural heritage.

Students from across the nation are drawn to Augusta, thanks to its educational institutions, including Augusta University, Georgia Military College, Paine College, and the University of South Carolina Aiken, along with various technical and vocational schools in the region.

Key Responsibilities:
The Reliability Engineer will undertake a variety of essential tasks, including:

1. Ensuring timely completion of Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFAs) and implementing corrective measures.

2. Monitoring equipment downtime data to identify areas for enhancement in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

3. Leading the RCFA process to pinpoint and execute actionable strategies to prevent recurrence of issues.

4. Analyzing downtime incidents and spearheading reliability improvement initiatives focused on significant or recurring failures.

5. Assisting in the development and application of key reliability metrics for ongoing performance assessment.

6. Maintaining a reliability enhancement plan for machinery within the department.

7. Ensuring that critical reliability improvement projects and repair plans adhere to budget constraints.

8. Integrating reliability enhancements into routine and major maintenance activities.

9. Overseeing lubrication strategies across the mill.

10. Taking responsibility for key reliability systems throughout the facility (e.g., lubrication, vibration analysis, pumps, gearboxes, etc.).

11. Providing technical assistance to reliability inspectors and lubrication technicians.

12. Enhancing the use of predictive technologies to minimize unplanned downtime.

13. Offering technical support to supervisors and skilled trades as necessary.

14. Supporting planning systems and improving master data, including PM development and inventory recommendations.

15. Assisting with Capital and Repair Projects in the following areas:

- Acting as an engineering liaison to transition capital work to mill engineering.

- Ensuring designs promote reliability and optimal functionality for all capital and repair projects.

- Contributing to the development of a five-year repair plan and providing insights for capital planning.

Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent practical/technical experience.

- A minimum of 5 years of reliability experience within an industrial maintenance environment, preferably in the paper industry or power and recovery sectors.

- Comprehensive understanding of reliability principles and their application.

- Proven leadership capabilities.

- Demonstrated success in driving and sustaining change.

- Ability to engage and motivate the workforce.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Proactive approach to problem-solving.

- Physical requirements include frequent bending, stooping, and mobility throughout the facility for extended periods, with occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.

- Proficient in using various office tools and equipment.

- Adherence to safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment in a mill environment.

- Exposure to airborne particles and varying temperatures and humidity levels.

- Ability to work on-call during selected weekends.

Compensation and Benefits:

The base salary offered will consider internal equity and may vary based on the candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
