About the Role

Boston Scientific is seeking an experienced engineer to lead breakthrough technology development within the Process Development Team. The successful candidate for this position will have strong technical acumen, be able to influence product design, and drive efficient cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess process capabilities, prioritize process improvement opportunities, and innovate and implement process improvements on complex projects.
  • Execute the functional deliverables associated with Process Development, Project Management, and Quality Systems.
  • Serve as a key resource or expert, participating in setting technical direction for the function and/or organization.
  • Review and assess processes for potential patent opportunities.
  • Ensure visibility and closure of process issues (e.g., yields, cost, capability, etc.) per Process Development milestones.
  • Serve as a key contributor and participant in technical reviews.
  • Evaluate external technologies and strategically identify opportunities to implement them internally.
  • Provide on-going mentoring and technical guidance to managers, other engineers, technicians, and functional groups.
  • Will mentor other technicians and engineers.
  • Typically serve as a core team member or technical expert (subject matter expert) on platform and complex projects.
  • May serve as a representative or liaison to other BSC sites or external organizations, boards or committees.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering or related engineering degree.
  • 7+ years of demonstrated process development / improvement activities.
  • Demonstrated use of Design for Six Sigma tools (DOE, problem solving, process improvement).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop processes from concept to production.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. Fixture and equipment design or trouble shooting experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Design for Automation or Design for Manufacturing experience.
  • Thermoplastic molding or extrusion experience.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Medical device or other regulated industry experience.
  • Process Development; equipment validations and process characterization and validation experience.
  • Open to travel of up to 10% of their time.
