Senior Controller Job Description

Pacific Building Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Controller to join our senior management team. As a key member of our leadership team, the Senior Controller will be responsible for the management of all financial and business matters of the company, ensuring timely reporting and transparent profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the accounting team and create and implement policies, procedures, and processes to maximize efficiency throughout the company.
  • Provide accurate monthly and annual company financial statements, reviewing them with the Executive team and providing strategic guidance on increasing and/or maintaining profitability in future periods.
  • Maintain Work in Progress (WIP) report and supervise accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, and more.
  • Manage company accounting policies, updating financial, operational, purchasing, and other policies to improve efficiency and simplify the business.
  • Work with department directors to prepare annual budgets and maintain fixed asset reporting module in Sage 300.
Insurance Responsibilities:
  • Report and monitor all active Worker's Compensation claims with the Safety Manager, acting as the company lead on quarterly insurance claim update conference calls with the carrier.
  • As a key member of the company safety team, work to encourage the highest level of safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Lead annual insurance renewals, working with brokers to negotiate the best policy and acting as the main point of contact for any General Liability claims filed with insurance carriers.
  • Work with carriers to ensure correct coverage for unique projects requiring special endorsements, lines of coverage, etc.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets.
  • Strong job costing experience and knowledge of construction and prior financial management experience required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interface and work with internal teammates, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Experience with Sage 300 (Formerly Timberline) and Procore highly desirable.
