Substance Abuse Counselor Position

Eliot Community Human Services is seeking a skilled Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health Division, you will provide innovative clinical services to adults with psychiatric disabilities.
The ideal candidate will have experience developing and facilitating dual diagnosis groups, motivational interviewing, harm reduction techniques, 12 step programs, and detoxification facilities. You will empower individuals to exercise control over their lives, promote individual control, and ensure they are free from neglect and abuse.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring Persons are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with ECHS' Human Rights policy.
- Empowering Persons to exercise control over their lives, including daily routines within their home, their treatment, and leisure activities.
- Assisting Persons in being fully integrated in their communities by supporting them in the use of community resources, encouraging them in establishing memberships within their communities, and reducing stigma within the community through education.
- Ensuring Persons are free from neglect and abuse.
- Actively taking part in supervision, staff meetings, in-services, and trainings as required or determined by supervisor.
Qualifications include:
- Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor I (LADC I)
- Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor II (LADC II)
- CADC I or II (Certified Alcohol/Drug Abuse Counselor)

- Lic Alcohol/Dep Coun 1
Experience includes:
- 1-2 years: Experience developing and facilitating dual diagnosis groups, motivational interviewing, harm reduction techniques, 12 step programs, and detoxification facilities
- 2 years: Experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illnesses
