Position Overview
As a Senior Tax Compliance Analyst at Par Pacific, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our tax operations within a dynamic energy sector. This position offers the opportunity to develop your technical skills and establish a robust foundation as a versatile tax professional.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly journal entries related to tax-specific matters.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of tax accounts and prepare corresponding journal entries.
- Generate supporting documentation and tax returns for various tax filings, including income, excise, sales/use, and property taxes.
- Assist in addressing inquiries from state and federal audits.
- Execute SAP queries to gather essential information for tax analysis and comprehend the implications of exemptions and vendor coding, as well as the tax consequences of transactions.
- Collaborate with customers and vendors to ensure proper documentation for tax exemptions and treatment of purchases and sales.
- Coordinate with the Treasury Group to facilitate the processing of periodic tax payments.
- Maintain comprehensive matrices and lists of jurisdictions for tax filing purposes.
- Monitor and update the tax compliance calendar to ensure timely filing obligations.
- Keep abreast of federal excise tax reporting requirements (e.g., ExSTARS 720-TO and 720-CS, quarterly 720 returns, and annual 2290 Heavy Highway Vehicle returns).
- Familiarize yourself with Hawaii's general excise tax and liquid fuel tax regulations.
- Gather information on tax statutes in states such as Washington, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Montana regarding fuel/excise and sales/use taxes.
- Collaborate with the IT Group and external consultants to enhance the existing SAP environment related to tax reporting.

Qualifications:
To qualify for this role, candidates must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

Additional Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a focus on Accounting/Tax.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in fuel excise and sales tax compliance, particularly with bulk/rack reporting.
- In-depth knowledge of excise tax and bulk tax reporting processes.
- Ability to work independently on complex tax scenarios.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others.
- CPA certification or eligibility is a plus.
- Proficient in Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP.
- Experience with SAP is preferred.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to identify inconsistencies.
- Capable of multitasking and managing additional responsibilities as required.
